For many years, Hunter Floyd, who is a former race car driver, had been ministering to those involved with auto sports racing through CART. He not only provided chapel services to the drivers and pit crew members, but also offered counseling, devotionals, officiated at weddings, and funerals. His long-term personal involvement with the racing community has placed him as a steadfast resource for those who face the challenges of a fast-paced life with many temptations and dangers. Although he is no longer travelling on the circuit, he continues to provide ministerial services to the participants.
Hunter is particularly interested in encouraging and supporting young drivers who are making their way up through the racing ranks in Indy Car support series. His involvement with participants who have moved on to the Nascar series leads to ongoing similar relationships there.
In 2010 Hunter changed the focus of his ministry from auto racing to motorcycle racing and rodeos. He offers spiritual guidance, chapel services and relational counseling for those who are affiliated with the Pro-Rodeo Cowboy Association and Colorado 500 motorcycle charity events in places such as Nevada, California, Idaho, Colorado and Georgia. Hunter has opportunities to bring the gospel to those who are not exposed to the gospel message and in some instances were formerly associated with biker gangs.
In the winter, Hunter resides in southern California where he leads bible studies at two winter golf resorts. It is surprisingly similar to the work he performed on the racing circuits, in that the those to whom he ministers come from widely disparate backgrounds, both geographically and spiritually.
