Water for Good (formerly ICDI) brings clean water and hope for a better future to communities in the Central African Republic through the work of trained and dedicated local staff. When the local teams drill a new water well it is the beginning of a relationship with a village. We are committed to keeping the water flowing for good, through our unique preventative maintenance and repair teams traveling throughout the country. Unfortunately, without this kind of maintenance service, an estimated 40%-60% of current water wells in Sub-Saharan Africa are broken. We want to change that! In 2014, wells in our maintenance program were functional 92% of the time, providing reliable water access to ½ million people. Water for Good’s periodic visits strengthen our relationships with communities, allowing our traveling trainers the opportunity to equip people with principles of sanitation and health, management training for economic development (beginning with using the water well as a public utility), and most importantly, the power of the gospel of the saving grace of the atoning work of Jesus Christ.
Water for Good is among the few missionary and/or humanitarian organizations that has continually operated in the Central African Republic, an economically undeveloped “failed state” suffering the ravages of yet another bloody rebellion and its aftermath—instability and insecurity. Water for Good is able to operate because of our commitment to equipping the local staff to effectively protect and manage its local operations to achieve our mission objectives.
Jay Parks, a long-time member at ZF, is on the staff of Water for Good.
